Qudwa Industrial Company & HP: A Sustainable Print Partnership

Qudwa Industrial Company, a leading BTL marketing solutions provider based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has taken a major step in upgrading its printing capabilities through a strategic investment in HP Latex technology. Speaking about this transformation, Mr. Ali Jaber, the General Manager of Qudwa, shared insights into the motivations behind the move, the company’s experience with HP, and the role this technology plays in supporting both business goals and broader national initiatives like Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Mr. Jaber, the decision to expand their large-format printing operation was driven primarily by growing market demand. “We saw a sharp increase in the need for high-quality, consistent, and durable print materials,” he explained. “To keep pace, we needed technology that not only met client expectations but gave us an edge in terms of quality and speed.” After evaluating several options, Qudwa selected HP Latex printers for their ability to deliver on all fronts—performance, reliability, and environmental responsibility.
Qudwa’s investment includes three HP Latex 800 printers, two HP Latex 1500 units, and one HP Latex R1000. Mr. Jaber emphasized that the decision was based on the printers’ ability to maintain consistent output across different materials, as well as the long-lasting quality of the prints. The R1000, in particular, has enabled the company to expand its capabilities by allowing direct printing on corrugated sheets—an offering that has opened new service opportunities.
“From day one, we noticed that HP printers were delivering more output compared to our existing setup, which included equipment from Durst,” Mr. Jaber noted. “The quality, durability, and ease of use stood out immediately.” The HP Latex 800 models are now exclusively used for client work, helping Qudwa ensure consistent color and print quality with every job.
While the experience with HP’s technology has been overwhelmingly positive, there were challenges along the way. Mr. Jaber pointed out that running the HP Latex 1500 on generator power posed some initial issues, and the R1000 required additional support due to minor maintenance complications. However, he credited the local HP partner, Al-Eqtessad, and their representative Mr. Oussama Nasr, for providing exceptional technical support. “Their service was a major reason we continued investing in HP rather than exploring other brands,” said Jaber.
Support and reliability remain key criteria in how Qudwa chooses its technology partners. “We value the availability of spare parts, prompt service, and long-term reliability,” Mr. Jaber said. He acknowledged that while HP’s support has been excellent, the cost of spare parts is relatively high, and this remains an area where improvement would be welcomed.
Sustainability also plays a central role in Qudwa’s operations. “Eco-friendly practices are part of our core values,” said Mr. Jaber. “HP’s water-based ink aligns with our environmental goals and helps us reduce our overall footprint.” While not all clients are focused on sustainability, many have responded positively to the company’s efforts. Looking ahead, Qudwa hopes to work with HP to introduce cartridge recycling programs in Saudi Arabia and even serve as a demo center for new HP technologies focused on sustainability.
This investment in advanced printing technology also contributes to Qudwa’s alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Mr. Jaber highlighted that the HP Latex printers support the country’s emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and industrial development. By delivering high-quality local production, Qudwa is helping reduce dependency on imports while raising the standard for what’s possible in the regional market.
Mr. Jaber also sees growing opportunities in sectors such as tourism, construction, and cultural initiatives, where demand for premium-quality visual and marketing materials is accelerating. “These are not standard projects—they require top-tier production capabilities,” he said. “That’s why we continue to invest in HP.”
Looking to the future, Mr. Jaber emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with HP. He identified operator training as a top priority to help the company fully unlock the capabilities of its new equipment. He also expressed interest in future printer models that offer more durable components, fewer consumables, and more affordable spare parts.
“Our partnership with HP is not just about machines,” he concluded. “It’s about growing our business, expanding our services, and contributing meaningfully to our country’s development. With the right technology and support, we’re positioned to lead.”
